My first Canadian winter! The blast of cold wind hitting my face came as a shock but the warmth and glow of love was evident on my flushed cheeks!
I was in love ... in love with the magical white of snow against the bright blue sky. Shivering, giggling like high school lovers and holding each other's ungloved hands, me and my Husband walked down High Park. This was my first time in snow and Hubby was introducing me to the harsh reality of Canadian winters! Much to his amusement, I was enjoying it!

Place:
We hurried down the snowy trail to this quaint little restaurant set back against the snowy background called "The Grenadier Restaurant". It looked like an everyday average restaurant ... well in the winter at least when there are no patios or umbrellas or all those 'spring things' that make you want to forget about everything and simply embrace the beauty of life!
Once inside, we were greeted with the aromas of freshly brewed coffee, frying eggs and the amazing smell of meat being cooked! The waitress greeted us with a friendly hello and showed us to our window seat. I love window seats. It gave me the opportunity to enjoy the scenery outside, warmth of the winter sun gleaming through and the beautiful display of icicles glittering outside the windows! Blissful Winter!

Our Orders:
Coffee!
The waitress was quick at bringing the coffee to our table. As much as I love my coffee, I seem to have a tough time getting past the bitterness of dark roasted coffee. If you're like me, all you have to do is add half of one of the '2% natrel milk' satchets that are pretty much lying there on the table asking for your attention and ofcourse the sugar and your coffee is ready!

I'm a sucker for good food and good conversation. And my idea of a really great breakfast is going out with my husband because we try out different stuff and love to share. My husband ordered the waffles at Grenadier. They were soft, buttery and sprinkled with icing sugar on top. Best way to enjoy your waffles: Drizzle with the honey that comes on the side, crack your eggs, dip some waffle pieces in yolk and slrp - you're in for a treat! When I saw my husband do it I honestly thought 'wah?!' ... waffles and egg yolk? But turns out it's actually really good!
Grilled Cheese & Eggs!
I'm usually not a breakfast person but I couldn't pass this opportunity to spend quality time on a weekend with a very busy husband! While I watched him enjoy his honey drizzled waffles I slowly munched on a grilled cheese sandwich and had my side of medium fried eggs. I can't say much about the eggs because they were pretty basic and there was nothing about it that hit my taste buds with the expression of 'eureka'. However, the grilled cheese was a delight. The cheese just melted into my mouth and the bread was perfectly toasted. The dill pickle that came with it just gave a taste of 'cheesy tangy'. My impression after eating at the Grenadier - good breakfast place with great window side view and admirable service. It didn't blow my mind away but the snowy experience will always be a good memory to hold onto! :)
